The Management of Persistent Organic Pollutants and Promotion of Toxic Substance Release Calculation Guidance(2016).

Absrtact
The achievements made in this project are summarized as follows: 1) The latest information on the Stockholm Convention and international control strategies of the pentadecafluorooctanoic acid, Short-chain chlorinated paraffins, dicofol, decabromodiphenyl ether and hexachlorobutadiene were collected, and recommendations for control strategies of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) were proposed to related administrative agencies in Taiwan. 2) The working-group seminars were held in according to the “National Implementation Plan of the Republic of China (R.O.C., Taiwan) under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants” (NIP) to gathered the achievements made by the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), Ministry of Health and Welfare, Council of Agriculture and the Ministry of Economic Affairs on renewed the NIP, and the National Report of POPs in 2015, and the project renewed content of the “POPs Website”, of which, the function were also expanded. 3) The release quantities ,of 2015 for first and second group of toxic substances in the toxic substance release calculation guidance, were analyzed. The dimethyl formamide is the main substance, of which, release quantities are about 84.97% of all the national reported quantities. This project also has accomplished 20 on-site consultation of toxic substance release reporting and improved 416 entries of reporting deficiencies. The project also provided the release quantities records in 2015 to the public for reference. 4) Proposed the “Promotion plan for implementation of Minamata Convention of United Nations”, which serves as the basis for domestic implementation. Additionally, the project updated content of the information web site to enhance public awareness of mercury.
